KIDS PROGRAMS
We love teaching and we encourage every child to learn the Chinese language. Mandarin Institute of Sri Lanka has developed a uniquely effective method and teaching materials to engage children of all age groups and diverse cultural backgrounds. we teach Mandarin simplified characters and pinion using the language system of mainland China.
For children between 6 and 9 years
Children introduced at this age tend to develop strong tonal skill. It will enhance speaking confidently with native Chinese and bring native fluency. Children in this category will be taught Chinese gradually and given more priority in developing their tone, teaching materials are very creative and easy to understand they will be kept engaged at home by fun and engaging teaching materials.
For children between 10 and 15 years
Children at this age are provided with engaging teaching materials to keep them engaged in the class, they are relatively straightforward but very attractive and engaging. students in this category will be taught by visual presentation such as videos, songs, cartoons and also by lecture materials.
Priority is given here for tonal development and grammar.
ADULT PROGRAMS
We understand how hectic life can be for an adult, with serious commitments on your shoulder it can slow down your growth and your quest to develop and change. At MISL we provide you an unprecedented learning experience so that you can continue growing amidst your busy schedules.
We are Sri Lanka’s only language school to provide all our students unlimited coverup classes, pioneering the Flexi learn concept you can always continue learning without missing on your lessons all while you attend to your family and work. We keep the classroom size at the right balance so that it neither gets bored or chaotic. With only 20 students every student gets individual attention to learn this beautiful language of Mandarin.

OUR ACADEMIC TEAM
Anjula Keshini
Head of Kids Programs
Anjula is a friendly lecturer who’s sought-after by students... She is a PhD student specializing in Chinese literature at Central China Normal University. She graduated from Chongqing Normal University with her Master.
She is an alumnus of Kelaniya University where she graduated with her Bachelors in languages. She had lived in China for many years and is well integrated with the Chinese culture, she is well versed in tones and able to pass down invaluable knowledge to students under her care. She is attached to Sri Lanka’s most prominent state University and is a visiting lecturer there for the Chinese language and previously attached to Bandaranaike centre of International studies.
Irushi Nagahawatte
Head of Adults Program
Irushi is an alumnus of Kelaniya university graduating with Bachelors in Arts languages. She was awarded a scholarship by Confucius institute headquarters in Beijing China where she studied the Chinese language at Chongqing Normal University.
She is HSK level 5 qualified and has more than 6 years of experience in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. She is presently attached to Moratuwa University as a visiting lecturer for the Chinese language. She was previously attached to BCIS and has immense experience under her belt in coaching adults and corporates. Her attachments at state University and educational establishment have fine-tuned her ability to reach to mature audience and maintain engagement in classes.
Natasha Buddhima
Lecturer - English Medium
Natasha is a Graduate from the University of Kelaniya with first-class Honors - Business & Academic Chinese (Sp). She has successfully completed the Modern Chinese course at Southwest University, Beibei, Chongqing, China.
She was involved as a visiting lecturer for many prominent Hotels in Sri Lanka and was a visiting Lecturer for Chinese at the department of Language at the University of Moratuwa
Jingfang Liu
Lecturer - Cultural Activities
Liu is a Mandarin Chinese native speaker who has permanently lived in Sri Lanka for many years. She graduated with a bachelor degree in management from Beijing International Studies University China and with a master degree from Nanyang Technological University Singapore. She has her own fun ways of teaching Chinese and the culture behind it, which always motivates her students.
She is also an entrepreneur in the travel industry in Sri Lanka and with her business background, she has the ability to teach students to use Chinese in different contexts. Currently, she is a senior lecturer attached to NSBM green university town and a visiting guest lecturer here.
Kaushalya
Lecturer - Sinhala Medium
Kaushalya is a graduate of the Sabaragamuwa University specializing in the Chinese Language. She had perfected Chinese at Chongqing Normal University in 2013 and since then was actively involved in lecturing Chinese for students all over Sri Lanka. She Heads the Sinhala Medium Program for MISL and shares the kids’ program with Lecturer Anjula.
She has over a decade of teaching experience and is regarded to be well-seasoned and a senior lecturer in the field.
Nishadi
Lecturer - English Medium
Nishadi completed her undergraduate studies at Beijing Foreign Studies University majoring in teaching Chinese. She studied in China for over 5 years while following her bachelors hence she is well exposed to the native Chinese dialects and culture.
Her experience of living in china is well reflected in her classroom as she exposes her students to the Chinese lifestyle and their language. Her connection with China is not limited to her academics, she is also a National Wushu champion.
Sun Xun
Senior Academic Supervisor
Sun Xun, is a graduate from Hubei University, majoring in Chinese language and literature.
She is an IPA recognized lecturer (international registered senior Chinese teacher). She has rich experience in lecturing for Students from Germany, Tanzania, Vietnam, Cambodia and America. She is a lecturer at Wuhan’s kung Fu Chinese Center with over 8 years of teaching experience for students globally.
She is the Senior Academic Supervisor at Mandarin Institute of Sri Lanka. She oversees curriculum and professional development for the school. Every Learning Content gets delivered to our students after diligent supervision by Sun Xun. Moreover, at the end of each level Our students get to interact with her to correct and improve their practical spoken skill.
OUR STUDENTS
Adults who enrol in this program are 100% corporates and professionals in their field. They include Lawyers, Bankers, Chartered accountants, Directors of Tourism and hotel-related fields. We also see a hike in 3rd generation businessmen in our recent enrolment perhaps the interest towards Chinese imports and exports are growing.
